Dear members of the ABP subspecialty community,
The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in unprecedented changes and
cancelations that are evolving by the moment. There are local, regional, and
international restrictions of travel, strong recommendations for social
distancing, and government requests for compliance with public health
measures.
The health of all of our physicians and the community, is of paramount
importance to the American Board of Pediatrics. We understand there are
current and likely future travel restrictions as well as personal illness or
quarantines that could affect one’s ability to take our examinations this month.
Initial certifying exams are scheduled for Adolescent Medicine, Child Abuse,
Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and Nephrology. We have heard from many that
the stress of uncertainty is worse than the disappointment of delaying exams
after significant preparation time.
We are receiving updates daily of Prometric site closures. Given the national
crisis, we are being proactive and postponing all upcoming examinations.
We are working with Prometric to find future new dates and will communicate
with exam candidates once more information is available.
We appreciate your understanding during this pandemic.
Sincerely,
Suzanne K. Woods M.D
Executive Vice President
Credentialing and Initial Certification
