Program Highlights
- Curriculum: Emphasis on graded autonomy, individualized learning paths, and early exposure to pediatric subspecialties.
- Clinical Experience: Residents manage their own patient panels in continuity clinics modeled off of faculty schedules, with opportunities to follow patients from birth through adolescence.
- Educational Conferences: Protected, regular morning case conferences and weekly academic half-day didactic series including simulation, research, quality improvement, and board review curricula.
- Resident Wellness: A supportive environment focusing on resident well-being and professional development.
- Facilities: Training occurs at HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital and SIU Women and Children’s Clinics, utilizing EPIC and Touchworks EHR systems.

Eligibility Requirements
- Have completed one year of ACGME-accredited pediatric residency training in good standing.
- Have passing scores on USMLE Steps 1,2, and 3 or COMLEX Levels 1, 2, and 3.
- Be a graduate of:
- a US or Canadian LCME-accredited medical school.
- a COCA-accredited college of osteopathic medicine.
- an international medical school with ECFMG certification.
SIU School of Medicine sponsors J-1 visas.
