The University of Illinois College of Medicine Pediatric Residency Program at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois, Peoria, has an unexpected opening for a categorical PGY-2 Pediatric residency position effective July 1st, 2025. The Children’s Hospital of Illinois is the third largest children’s hospital in Illinois. Since 1958, our program has a long-standing tradition of excellence in Pediatric education. We are a large referral and tertiary center for the greater Peoria area, and over sixty counties stretching from the Iowa border to the Indiana border. Our residents receive outstanding training in primary and tertiary Pediatric care.
Our residency program is an excellent blend of a strong curriculum, outstanding training in all aspects of Pediatrics, and potential for exponential academic growth. We will help develop you into an outstanding Pediatrician. In addition, we also have a top notch, state-of-the-art simulation center, where residents get hands-on training and experience using high fidelity simulation. This is an excellent way to train residents in improving patient safety, efficiency in medical systems, procedural competency, and translation to the bedside of the patient. Our faculty is committed to education, and our program size fosters a collegial and friendly atmosphere. In addition, we have an outstanding board review curriculum and a designated safety champion to help residents navigate the world of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. All this training is woven into a close-knit program with a personal touch.

Applicants must have completed their intern year at an ACGME-accredited Pediatric residency program in good standing and have a valid Illinois Medical temporary license by the start date.
