The Neonatology Fellowship Program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS, has three openings for 1st-year fellows and one for a 2nd-year fellow, starting July 1, 2026. The NICU at the Children’s Hospital of Mississippi is the only Level IV NICU in the state and boasts 92 private rooms in the Sanderson Tower NICU. Additionally, there are 30 beds available at Wiser Women’s and Infants Hospital, including a tiny baby unit. The Division of Newborn Medicine is staffed by 14 neonatologists and 23 NNPs. The program has a strong basic science research lab, with two established researchers specializing in brain injury. We participate in the Neonatal Research Network and Vermont Oxford Network and have established ground and air neonatal transport teams, simulation training, POC ultrasound training, high-frequency ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide, brain cooling, and ECMO. The Department of Pediatrics has a full spectrum of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists, a strong CV Surgery program, and several subspecialty fellowship programs. In addition, we have an active academic MFM service with a busy Fetal Center. Fellows will have opportunities to participate in basic, clinical, and translational research, as well as in quality improvement projects aligned with individual interests.

We welcome applicants who are in (or have completed) an ACGME-accredited Pediatrics residency. Chief residents, current third-year pediatric residents, or pediatric/neonatal hospitalists and current first-year neonatology residents looking to relocate are encouraged to apply.
