Call for Fellowship Applications
The Division of Pediatric Pain, Palliative, and Integrative Medicine (PPIM) at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals is accepting applications for three one-year clinical fellowship programs beginning July 2027.
Our interdisciplinary division is dedicated to improving the lives of children and families through compassionate, evidence-informed, and collaborative care. Fellows train alongside an experienced team of physicians, nurse practitioners, psychologists, integrative medicine practitioners, nurses, social workers, chaplains, child life specialists, and other interdisciplinary professionals.
Available Fellowships:
~~Pediatric Pain Medicine Fellowship / One-Year Clinical Fellowship (Non-ACGME)~~
The Pediatric Pain Medicine Fellowship provides advanced interdisciplinary training in the assessment and management of acute, chronic, and complex pediatric pain. Fellows work alongside an interdisciplinary team while developing expertise in evidence-based pain management in the inpatient and ambulatory settings, with tailored exposure to intensive pediatric pain rehabilitation, pediatric pain anesthesia and adult pain management frameworks, while learning to incorporate integrative therapies, pain education, and scholarly work. The fellowship curriculum is individualized to support each fellow’s career goals and interests.
Interested candidates can be connected to our most recent fellows, who have since both joined us as faculty. Priority will be given to candidates who wish to join our program after the fellowship as an attending at the rank of an assistant, associate or full professor, commensurate with academic standing.

~~Pediatric Integrative Medicine Fellowship / One-Year Clinical Fellowship (Non-ACGME)~~
The Pediatric Integrative Medicine Fellowship offers advanced interdisciplinary training in evidence-informed integrative pediatric care. Fellows gain experience incorporating lifestyle medicine, nutrition, mind-body medicine, acutherapy, herbal medicine, and other integrative approaches into the care of children with acute and chronic conditions. Training is individualized, allowing fellows to develop clinical, scholarly, educational, and leadership experiences aligned with their personalized career goals.

~~Pediatric Palliative Care Fellowship / One-Year Clinical Fellowship (ACGME Accredited)~~
The Pediatric Palliative Care Fellowship is an ACGME-accredited Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship track within the UCSF Division of Palliative Medicine. Fellows receive comprehensive interdisciplinary training in pediatric palliative care across inpatient and outpatient settings, caring for children and families facing serious illness and supporting them through complex medical decision-making, symptom management, and end-of-life care.
Applications can be submitted through ERAS according to ACGME application timelines and requirements.
Application Process (for Pain Medicine and Integrative Medicine Fellowships)
Eligible applicants must:
- have completed (or be on track to complete) an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency or another residency program that meets fellowship eligibility requirements.
- be eligible for medical licensure in California.
- have independent authorization to work in the United States.
- At this time, the Pediatric Pain Medicine and Pediatric Integrative Medicine Fellowship programs are not able to sponsor J-1 or H-1B visas.
Timeline:
- Applications open: August 15, 2026
- Applications close: October 15, 2026
- Candidates will be reviewed on a rolling basis and invited to interview with our team
