The Division of Pediatric Nephrology, Hypertension & Apheresis at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and St. Louis Children’s Hospital has two 1st year fellow positions available for July 2026. Our division provides comprehensive treatment for children with acute and chronic kidney and genitourinary disorders. St. Louis Children’s Hospital is consistently ranked in U.S. News and World Report as a top pediatric hospital in the nation.

The Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship Training Program is a three-year program offered for advanced subspecialty training beyond the residency level. The program is designed to provide pediatricians with extensive training and experience in basic research, clinical investigation, and diagnostic procedures, leading to board certification in Pediatric Nephrology. It provides an extraordinary environment for the development of Pediatric Nephrology clinican/educators, and physician-scientists.

Fellows in our program manage a wide variety of patients with kidney diseases, including but not limited to fluid and electrolyte disorders, congenital anomalies of the kidneys and urinary tract, glomerular diseases, tubular disorders, acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, and hypertension. We provide comprehensive pediatric chronic dialysis care for patients in our in-center dialysis unit and have a robust kidney transplant program. Fellows follow their own patient cohort longitudinally during their training in our general nephrology clinic and may participate in several multidisciplinary clinics as well (urology/nephrology clinic, lupus/vasculitis clinic, Fontan clinic, midaortic syndrome & renovascular hypertension clinic.) Fellows will gain expertise in performing kidney biopsies and in the management of patients receiving hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, continuous kidney replacement therapy, modified aquaphersis, and other extracorporeal therapies (e.g. therapeutic plasma exchange, RBC exchange, extracorporeal photopheresis, steam cell collection).
