The goals of the APPD Research and Scholarship Learning Community are to:
- Define the needs of the APPD membership in the domains of research and scholarship
- Support the APPD’s organizational processes and procedures that promote research and scholarship by APPD members
To successfully meet these goals, the Research and Scholarship Learning Community engages in a variety of activities, including:
- Facilitating group projects among learning community members through longitudinal subwork groups.
- Providing resources to facilitate educational scholarship
- Developing and leading workshops focused on medical education research topics at the APPD Annual Spring Meeting
- Reviewing APPD meeting abstracts and enhanced learning session proposal submissions in collaboration with APPD SEEK.
- Reviewing research surveys intended for the APPD membership
- Selection of research prize winners
We welcome all APPD members, regardless of experience with medical education research and scholarship. This community is a great way to be connected with other APPD members with a particular interest in educational research and scholarship and take advantage of opportunities to improve your own research, appraisal, and mentoring skills.
If you are looking to submit a survey for review, please see APPD LEARN for the survey submission processes.
NEW!
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the APPD Scholarly Community of Pediatric Educators (SCoPE), a new group supported by the Research and Scholarship Learning Community. In order to build community and advance educational scholarship across APPD, we will be holding quarterly virtual Works in Progress meetings in which APPD members can receive feedback on educational scholarship at any phase of development–from idea generation to troubleshooting a project that is nearly completed. Additionally, we will use this as a forum for connecting APPD members with educational scholarship mentors for future collaborations outside of the Works in Progress session. We invite all APPD members to join, either as a presenter looking for feedback on your own project, or as a peer mentor who can contribute to others’ work and learn from the discussion.
