We are pleased to introduce a new APPD Learning Community!
Established in February 2025, the Remediation and Skill Development Learning Community is a group of residency and fellowship program directors, associate program directors, program coordinators, chief residents, and other educational leaders seeking to improve and standardize the learning environment for trainees who require additional skill development and/or remediation during training. We strive to destigmatize the skill development process by making the experience more inclusive, transparent, and psychologically safe. We welcome anyone who seeks to optimize the experience for all parties involved: residents and fellows, the residency and fellowship community, and the educational leaders.
Our Learning Community aims to:
- To change the culture of remediation within GME to create a more psychologically safe experience and to improve the sense of belonging for trainees who require extra support.
- Develop pediatric-specific best practices and toolkits that can be used by leadership to support residents undergoing skill development and/or remediation.
- Support the well-being of educational leaders who participate in remediation.
- Foster collaboration through the study and refinement of processes and procedures developed by our learning community.
- Promote research and scholarship to improve and disseminate knowledge about remediation and skill development.
Please join us for our 1st in-person Learning Community meeting at the APPD 2025 Annual Spring Meeting!
