The Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Learning Community was created in 2023 to help improve pediatric training programs by addressing quality improvement and patient safety.

This learning community will contribute to the mission of the APPD by providing support, mentorship, teamwork, and fostering innovation among pediatric program leadership, and will aid programs in meeting the broad QIPS educational requirements for trainees and allow for ongoing collaboration to develop scholarship involving QIPS curricula.

The goals of this committee are to:

1) Provide guidance and tools to assist pediatric program leadership and their faculty to design, implement, and evaluate QIPS education within their residency programs
2) Create a community for program leadership involved in QIPS education, to facilitate collaboration on best practices to build or enhance existing curricula
