APPD Competency Based Medical Education (CBME) Data Hub
The APPD CBME Data Hub is a dynamic new system designed to help program leaders accelerate their implementation of competency-based medical education (CBME). The Data Hub allows programs to upload clinical competency committee (CCC) determined entrustable professional activity (EPA) supervision levels and receive two things in return:
1) recommended ACGME milestone levels, and
2) summary of EPA practice readiness (i.e., ready for unsupervised practice).
The CBME Data Hub is available to all APPD member programs, allowing CCCs to focus their assessment efforts on the 12 EPAs for general pediatrics while also being equipped to consider and report the 22 ACGME milestones. It is currently built for general pediatrics EPAs, with subspecialty fellowship EPAs to follow.
The system that predicts milestones from residency EPAs is built on data from an APPD LEARN study (the Crosswalk Study) that includes nearly 200,000 EPA reports for over 5,000 residents from more than 60 residency programs. The modeling will continue to improve the more the APPD CBME Data Hub is used.
