Call for APPD Governance Committee Members

APPD is pleased to announce the call for members of the Governance Committee. The APPD Governance Committee supports the Board of Directors by ensuring strong and effective governance practices that align with the mission and values of the association. The Committee provides oversight of Board composition, development, evaluation, and compliance with bylaws and governance policies to ensure accountability, continuity, and alignment with best practices.

The Committee is chaired by the Immediate Past President of APPD. Three additional members are appointed following an open call to the APPD membership and review of applications by the Board. Members will serve a non-renewable, two-year term. Initial appointments to the Committee will include two appointees who serve a two-year term and one appointee who will serve a three-year term in order to ensure continuity at its inception.

Open Positions:

  • Two committee members (two-year term, 2026-2028)
  • One committee member (three-year term, 2026-2029)

DEADLINE: All materials must be submitted by December 21, 2025.

Criteria for Selection of APPD Governance Committee Members

A.   Composition:  

  • The Committee is chaired by the Immediate Past President of APPD. 
  • Three additional members are appointed following an open call to the APPD membership and review of applications by the Board. 
  • Members will serve a non-renewable, two-year term. Initial appointments to the Committee will include two appointees who serve a two-year term and one appointee who will serve a three-year term in order to ensure continuity at its inception.  

B.   Committee Member Requirements

Committee members should: 

  • Be highly regarded within the community of pediatric program leadership and medical education. 
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in assessing the qualifications and readiness of individuals for leadership roles. 
  • Be committed to advancing equity, inclusion, and excellence in APPD leadership. 
  • Have a minimum of 7 years combined experience in pediatric medical education program leadership and APPD leadership.

Meetings:

  • Meets at least quarterly, or more frequently as needed
  • Provides an annual report and recommendations to the APPD Board of Directors

Application Process:

  • Applicants submit application materials via online submission form by December 21, 2025
  • APPD Board of Directors reviews applications
  • APPD Board of Directors determines final approval of new Governance Committee members
  • APPD Immediate Past-President notifies applicants by early January 2026
