The Baylor College of Medicine / CHRISTUS Children’s Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship is recruiting 2 fellows for the upcoming academic year.
Our newly established Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) Fellowship is built upon the academic excellence of Baylor College of Medicine and the clinical strength of CHRISTUS Children’s— the only freestanding children’s hospital in South Texas. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing, academically driven program with strong institutional partnerships, experienced faculty, and a clear commitment to clinical excellence, advocacy, mentorship, and scholarly development.
As the only Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship program in South Texas, we offer a distinctive opportunity to train at the region’s only freestanding children’s hospital, serving a diverse, high-acuity population with approximately 45,000 annual emergency department visits.
Our newly established program is grounded in Baylor’s academic excellence and CHRISTUS Children’s clinical strength, providing:
- Comprehensive, hands-on clinical training
- Dedicated research and scholarly time
- Strong mentorship and individualized career development
- Regional partnerships, including Brooke Army Medical Center and University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio
Program Overview
Although newly established, the fellowship is deeply rooted in the academic infrastructure of Baylor College of Medicine and the expansive clinical resources of CHRISTUS Children’s. Fellows train in a diverse, high-acuity environment serving South Texas, with progressive autonomy and broad exposure across the pediatric continuum—from neonates to adolescents.
The curriculum includes dedicated rotations in:
- Pediatric Emergency Medicine
- Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU)
- Anesthesiology
- Orthopedics
- EMS
- Toxicology
- Child Abuse
- Research (protected scholarly time each year
