Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and the St. Louis University School of Medicine have an opening for the July 2026 start date for a pediatric critical care medicine fellow. The PICU at Cardinal Glennon is a 21-bed mixed medical/surgical and cardiac unit with approximately 1,100 admissions per year, of which 220 are open-heart cases of all complexities. Fellows at CGCH lead multidisciplinary teams to care for critically ill and injured children, including those having undergone heart, liver and kidney transplants; those requiring ECMO, CRRT and other extracorporeal therapies, a busy neurological and epilepsy surgery service, and more. The cardiothoracic surgery service performs open heart cases of all complexities as well as minimally invasive and hybrid palliations and repairs. Extensive opportunities exist in clinical and translational research, as well as quality and education sciences. The city of St. Louis offers a low cost of living environment, with busy arts, cultural and restaurant scenes as well as Blues hockey, Cardinals baseball and STL City MLS soccer. The program is able to support J-1 visas. Individuals with existing pediatric cardiology training who are interested in 2 years of supplemental critical care experience are encouraged to apply.
