The Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) Fellowship Program at Akron Children’s has one open position for a 1st Year Fellow beginning in July 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, ACGME-accredited fellowship program that offers exceptional training and mentorship within a supportive, collaborative environment.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Our three-year DBP Fellowship is designed to provide a comprehensive, hands-on experience that equips fellows with the clinical, research, educational, and advocacy skills necessary to lead in the field of developmental and behavioral pediatrics. Highlights of our program include:
- Diverse Clinical Exposure: Fellows gain extensive, high-quality experience in a variety of settings, allowing for depth and breadth in clinical practice.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Fellows engage in team-based evaluations across a variety of interdisciplinary clinics.
- New Autism Center: Fellows have extensive training opportunities in both diagnostic assessment and evidence-based intervention with the recent opening of our Autism Center.
- Educational Opportunities and Innovation: Fellows have hands-on opportunities to teach others while benefiting from faculty who use innovative strategies to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
- Strong Support and Mentorship: Fellows receive robust mentorship in scholarly work, leadership and advocacy from faculty dedicated to their growth.
- Personalized Training Opportunities: Fellows have flexibility to tailor their training to align with personal interests and career goals, ensuring a customized learning experience.

ELIGIBILITY
Qualified fellowship applicants should meet the following requirements:
- MD, DO or MBBS degree
- Passed all three steps of USMLE or COMLEX
- Completed an ACGME-accredited residency in pediatrics or internal medicine/pediatrics
- Board certified/eligible in general pediatrics
- U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or J-1 visa (we cannot accommodate H-1B visas)
- Eligible for Ohio medical license and DEA number to be obtained at start of training
