The University of Florida, Department of Pediatrics, is seeking a dynamic and innovative Program Director to lead our Pediatrics residency training program at UF Health Gainesville Florida as full-time faculty member at the tenure or non-tenure accruing level of Assistant/ Associate/Full Professor.

The Pediatrics Residency Program Director will be responsible for the direct oversight of all educational activities within the program and will report to the Chair of the University of Florida Department of Pediatrics and the Designated Institutional Official in the UF Graduate Medical Education office. The Program Director will work closely with the Associate Chair of Education, Division Chiefs, and other institutional and departmental training program directors to advance the strong educational mission of University of Florida, College of Medicine and the Pediatric Department. Maintaining a fully accredited high quality residency program and demonstrating excellence in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows is expected.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advance and innovate the curricula within the pediatric training program and lead change with a unifying vision and mission and collaborative strategic planning for medical education in the Department of Pediatrics.
  • Ensure delivery of excellent clinical education and advanced training to medical students, residents, and fellows. Provide leadership and oversight to the residency program in collaboration with medical student and fellowship leaders and ensure learners are receiving comprehensive and balanced training and development opportunities.
  • Ensure that the training program meets or exceeds all compliance standards and policies that govern them, including regulatory and accreditation requirement and manage the training program’s self-study and ACGME site visits.
  • Recruit outstanding trainees from diverse backgrounds and participate in recruiting, hiring, and retaining outstanding faculty from diverse backgrounds. Ensure an atmosphere of respect, professional support, and development.
  • Supervise, prepare, implement, and monitor the educational budget so that it encompasses all funding sources and complies with grant, legislative, and institutional guidelines.

The position of Program Director, Pediatric Residency Program requires a dynamic, passionate, and capable academic physician leader with a proven track record across the spectrum of educational excellence, administrative experience, program development, individual scholarship, trainee recruitment, and community engagement. Candidates should hold or be eligible for promotion to the academic rank of assistant, associate professor or professor and will be selected from a pool reflecting diversity, broadly defined.
