We have an unexpected opening for a second-year pediatric gastroenterology fellow at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein (CHAM) in Bronx, New York.
We welcome applications from qualified second-year fellows who are seeking to relocate to New York City. Candidates will be considered based on previous training, program requirements and eligibility.
Our fellowship program provides comprehensive training in clinical care, education, procedural skills, and research. The program has a total of six fellows, with two fellows entering the program each year. Fellows participate in a wide range of clinical activities encompassing gastrointestinal, hepatic, pancreatic, and nutritional disorders across all stages of childhood and adolescence. The curriculum emphasizes a multidisciplinary, family-centered and holistic approach to patient care, recognizing the influence of social determinants of health, emotional development, and cultural and ethnic diversity on health promotion, disease prevention, and clinical outcomes.
Fellows have dedicated research time in their second and third years of training. They are supported in developing and pursuing research projects aligned with their individual academic interests and career goals, with dedicated faculty mentorship throughout the research process. This structured approach fosters critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and the development of skills essential for a successful career in academic medicine.
Our internationally recognized team works in close collaboration with pediatric surgery and transplant surgery, otolaryngology, pulmonology, and allergy and immunogenetics specialists. We follow a family-centered approach, offering counseling, access to social workers, and nutritionists to ensure the best possible outcomes and overall well-being for our patients.
Division Highlights:
- Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD): IBD program, participation in ImproveCareNow (ICN), collaboration with immunogenetics, intestinal ultrasound
- Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy: state-of-the-art fluoroscopy unit and endoscopy room
- Hepatology and liver transplant program
- Neurogastroenterology: esophageal and anorectal manometry, pH probe and impedance
- Intestinal failure: home parenteral nutrition program
- Aerodigestive Program with otorhinolaryngology, pulmonology and gastroenterology
- Eosinophilic disorders: allergy and immunology multi-disciplinary program
