Kansas University School of Medicine is actively seeking a PGY2 resident to join our residency program in Wichita, Kansas. With a small community-based program of 5 pediatric and 3 med/ped categorical residents per year and no fellows, our residents have the opportunity to work very closely with a team of diverse and dedicated faulty in over two dozen specialized pediatric medical and surgical specialties, as well as having a residency program tailored to their own special interests. As the only pediatric program in the state, our residents work in the regions first and only, dedicated children’s hospital, including a 30-bed in-patient unit, and a 15-bed PICU, and 80 bed NICU. Our PICU and NICU are staffed 24/7 with attending physicians. Our children’s hospital has a level 1 trauma center designation and a dedicated 14-bed pediatric emergency department. General Ambulatory experiences are robust and diverse in our pediatric clinic which is the state’s largest Medicaid clinic providing approximately 30,000 encounters each year. Our “x+y” rotation model optimizes integration of inpatient, specialty, and ambulatory experiences with an emphasis on producing continuity in the ambulatory setting. Residents graduate prepared for everything from rural primary care to successful entrance into fellowship, and approximately half of our graduates enter competitive fellowships for specialty training.

Our mission at KUMC is to develop pediatricians who are proficient clinically, strive for continuous improvement and personal growth, and who positively impact health care. We accomplish this by focusing on educating, mentoring, and supporting our residents in every aspect of their journey. We are looking to enhance our team with someone who is passionate about the care and wellbeing of our youth, and someone who is enthusiastic about both learning and teaching in our close-knit environment.
