The University of Hawai`i Pediatric Residency Program is seeking a pediatric chief resident for the 2025-2026 academic year! Come join our wonderful program in Honolulu with opportunities to teach, network with community providers and work with our engaging leadership team to help our support our residents in a successful year.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Teach and supervise medical students and pediatric residents.
  2. Create work & call schedules for pediatric residents.
  3. Help with administering the program.
  4. Serve as a liaison for communication between the residents and program.
  5. Actively participate in recruitment and selection of interns to start in July 2026.
  6. Develop educational activities.
  7. Design and implement resident retreats, helping residents engage in meaningful cultural/community experiences, supporting wellness and understanding their role as physicians in the community.
  8. Organize and facilitate Morning Report three days per week on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
  9. Further professional development including pursuit of scholarly work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. M.D. or D.O. degree from a medical school of recognized standing.
  2. Board certified (within 7 years) or an active board candidate for certification in Pediatrics.
  3. Must have current Hawaii Medical License or have Hawaii Medical License by date of hire.
  4. Completion of an ACGME accredited residency program.
  5. Demonstrate potential for teaching/research/scholarship.
  6. Demonstrate ability in patient care and strong medical knowledge.
  7. Demonstrate poise, diplomacy and professionalism in meeting and conferring with others.
