Pediatric Chief Resident

The Pediatric Residency Program at Baystate Children’s Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts, is seeking applications for a Pediatric Chief Resident position for the 2025-2026 academic year. The Chief Resident will serve for one year from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026.  Our two chief residents work collaboratively with highly engaged program leadership to supervise and support 29 Pediatric residents and 32 Med-Peds residents.  A chief resident year is a great opportunity to enhance your leadership, teaching, and clinical skills!

Responsibilities and benefits:

Our chief resident position is 0.2 clinical FTE and 0.8 administrative FTE.  Clinical time consists of 0.1 FTE precepting in clinic, and the other 0.1 FTE is somewhat flexible depending on the candidate’s career goals.  Our chiefs are advocates, teachers, and mentors for our residents.  They participate in scheduling and recruitment, are important participants on various hospital committees, and develop teaching skills via precepting in continuity clinic, running morning report, and creating various educational sessions for our academic half days.  Salary is 94K plus a generous benefit package.  Moonlighting opportunities are available.

Eligibility:

  1. Prospective applicants must be on track to completing an ACGME accredited Pediatric or Med/Peds residency by June 30, 2025.
  2. Prospective applicants should be in good standing with their current residency program. They should demonstrate mentorship, teaching, and leadership interests.
  3. Prospective applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to leadership.
