University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and Children’s Medical Center of Dallas are delighted to be able to offer a senior pediatric fellowship in Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support and Transplantation for 2023-2024academic year. The heart Failure, MCS and transplant team has four full time heart failure and transplant physicians, six heart failure and transplant coordinators, two advanced practice practitioners, and additional support staff. The surgical program is under the direction of Dr Jake Jaquiss and has two full time congenital heart surgeons with a strong commitment to further expanding the heart failure, transplant and ventricular assist device program. UT Southwestern Medical Center has extensive research facilities and a very active adult heart failure program with which the pediatric program has strong links. The pediatric heart failure, MCS and transplant team is involved in multiple clinical trials, outcomes and basic science research.

The transplant program at Children’s Medical Center, Dallas began in 1988 and over 350 transplants have been undertaken since then. The mechanical circulatory support program began in 2006 with over 130 device implants since then. A range of devices including Belin Heart, Centrimag, Heartware, HeartMate 3 and Impella have been used.

The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is one of the largest and rapidly expanding areas in the USA with a population of 7 million. The central position of Dallas with a major hub airport means travel is easy both nationally and internationally. The city has a vibrant arts center and an internationally renowned symphony orchestra.

We would welcome applications from physicians interested in a career in heart function and its management and offer a comprehensive training program with established clinicians in the field. Applicants should be board certified in Pediatrics and have finished or will have finished a three-year pediatric cardiology fellowship by July 2023 at an accredited ACGME institution.
