Subspecialty Clinical Training and Certification Initiative

In 2010, the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) embarked on an initiative to evaluate the clinical aspects of subspecialty fellowship training and appointed a Task Force on Subspecialty Clinical Training and Certification (SCTC). The SCTC Task Force was charged with examining the current model of pediatric subspecialty fellowship training and certification with an emphasis on competency-based clinical training. It was also charged with submitting to the ABP Board of Directors any recommended changes in the current requirements. After careful consideration of feedback from stakeholders and surveys of subspecialty Program Directors, fellows, and practitioners, the work of the SCTC Task Force is now coming to a close.

Partnering in communications with the Council of Pediatric Subspecialties (CoPS), the Task Force will be presenting recommendations to the ABP Board of Directors for approval.
