Children’s Hospital in Chicago, IL is seeking

academic year starting July 2009 – June 2010. This is an opportunity
to be an integral part of the training program of a large urban community
hospital that serves a patient population of diverse ethnic, social,
and economic backgrounds. Inpatient pediatric services include a
general pediatric ward, a Level III NICU, a Level I PICU, and a busy
newborn nursery.
The responsibilities
of the position are those of most senior residents – supervising
and teaching junior residents and medical students in various clinical
settings, direct patient care in outpatient and inpatient settings
(on the general pediatric service or subspecialty electives), and
on-call duties covering inpatient units. You will also help to provide
some formal education to your colleagues (morning reports, journal
clubs, etc). Of course, we will provide learning opportunities in
inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as formal didactic teaching.
All candidates must have completed PL-1 and PL-2 years in Pediatrics
and have a strong commitment for teaching and patient care. Interested

UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital and the Pediatric Pain Program, Department of Pediatrics, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, are recruiting a fulltime medical director for its newly launched Children’s Comfort Care Program (pediatric palliative care). As a new interdisciplinary program, the medical director position offers opportunity to help shape the future and scope of the program through creative contribution and leadership of the clinical program. The medical director would work closely with the program director, nurse practitioner, and other members of the team.
We seek a junior pediatric faculty who has had pediatric palliative care fellowship or equivalent experience or recent fellow looking for a faculty position, who not only enjoys clinical care as a member of an interdisciplinary team, but also has an interest in clinical research and teaching.
Activities include clinical consultation and follow-up of children with chronic pain and/or palliative care needs: inpatient and outpatient, and eventually home visits with documentation through clinical reports; Clinical education to house staff and others; Clinical research, including expectations of publications, grant submissions, and presentations at national scientific meetings.
This position requires board certification in pediatrics, eligibility for a California medical license; completion of specialty fellowship training in pediatric pain or pediatric palliative care, or experience with either; strong public speaking and communication skills. Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program for a first year position Penn State Children’s Hospital in Hershey, PA
The Penn State Children’s Hospital in Hershey, PA is actively recruiting for its Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program for a first year position starting July 1, 2010. We are particularly seeking candidates with strong clinical backgrounds and academic interests. The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Penn State Children’s Hospital includes nine Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologists and five Ph.D. research faculty. The clinical service is broadly based to serve the needs of the children of central PA and includes programs in pediatric stem cell transplant, neuro-oncology, pediatric hemophilia/thrombosis, and sickle cell disease. Over 100 new oncology patients are seen yearly at the Penn State Children’s Hospital, a 129 bed facility with more than 6,000 pediatric admissions annually and an adjacent outpatient clinic seeing more than 60,000 children and adolescents each year.
The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division is partially supported by one of the largest student-run philanthropies in the United States, The Four Diamond’s Fund, which contributes to the delivery of state of the art, multidisciplinary patient care. This fund had contributed significantly to the establishment of the Four Diamond’s Pediatric Cancer Research Institute, supporting basic science and translational research in vaccine therapies, immunomodulation in bone marrow transplantation, and in hematopoiesis and leukemogenesis. Fellowship training in clinical research is also supported by an institutional K30 program.

Research Fellowship Funding
Pediatric Scientist Development Program (PSDP)
This program is designed to provide research training and career development support relevant to specialty areas of pediatrics and to prepare entry-level faculty for research careers in academic pediatrics. Physicians who wish to train in basic, translational, or clinical research with an established investigator / research mentor are encouraged to apply, as are candidates who seek training in epidemiology/statistics, informatics, health services, or health policy. This Program provides a training environment in which talented pediatricians address central problems in child health with the most current scientific tools. Ultimately, these pediatric scientists, dedicated to continuing basic, translational, and clinical research, will translate research advances to improvements in clinical care for children.
The Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs,
Inc. (AMSPDC) acts as the sponsoring organization for the PSDP.
In a unique collaborative arrangement, funding is derived from
grants from the National Institute of Child Health & Human Development
and numerous private agencies and foundations, including the American
Pediatric Society, American Academy of Pediatrics, Sick Kids Foundation,
Paediatric Chairs of Canada, March of Dimes, and St. Jude Children's
Research Foundation.
Two to three years of research training are funded by the Program after the completion of the clinical fellowship year(s). A sponsoring pediatric department assumes responsibility for support of clinical portion of the fellowship. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree and must be US citizens or permanent residents or Canadian citizens. The next application deadline is February 1, 2010. The Director will be responsible for the medical education and continuing medical education activities at MCH including oversight of the training programs. Post Pediatric Portal Project
The Post Pediatric Portal Project is a new and innovative 3 year pilot program approved by the Residency Review Committee of the ACGME. It provides training in general and child/adolescent psychiatry for Board Eligible and Board Certified pediatricians who decide to retrain in psychiatry. The Portal Project provides a 36 month training experience that meets requirements for Board Certification in both general and child/adolescent psychiatry. The sponsoring institution, University Hospitals Case Medical Center, is the primary affiliate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland, Ohio. This Portal Project training site is the first of three approved sites to begin training pediatricians. At this time there are 4 Portal residents, 2 per training year.
