Southwest Regional Breakfast
Minutes from
2004 Spring Meeting
The following items were discussed:
- It was suggested that Southwest Regional should have their own list serve, also that regular correspondence can be between the program directors of this region. Ms. Amy Pulupa will be requested to provide such list serve.
- It was agreed that the programs in the region should accommodate each other regarding resident recruitment. If a resident is coming to our state for interview, then there should be some mechanism to coordinate so that an out-of-state applicant does not have to make too many trips to visit programs in the Southwest.
- The group wished to meet in the fall for half to one day. It was agreed that it should be in Dallas. That may be the most central place. Dr. Varma will look into it and see as to what time and place is convenient to all the programs. In that meeting the following items will be addressed:
- Dr. Kitteredge's group will be asked to make presentations regarding ADA educational guidelines.
- Representatives from Texas State Board of Medical Examiners will be requested to attend so that program directors can discuss and review processes regarding getting license and institutional permit for the residents.
- The Dean's of Student Affairs of Texas Medical Schools will be asked to provide a list of the students who are interested in pediatrics so that recruitment could be more effective.
There were no other items discussed and meeting was adjourned.
